Bob,
I can't answer your question about the cuts in the lower body. I had Pepe at the Baja Shop in Orange, Ca. put the engine and trans in for me. I believe he uses an air grinder with a thin blade but I don't know for sure. I have also heard that Plasma cutters are good if you can find someone local that has one. Be carefull as there are wires that run accross that section. Pepe welded a piece of flat plate on the inside then drilled and tapped the holes to mount the lower section back.

I assume that your question about a cross brace was in regards to a rear mount for the Type IV engine. I have mounts built onto the rear bumper.

As for the pancake engine, body lifts are typically three inches. I am sure there are other heights available, but from my experience I don't think it will clear. You will most likey have to trim a bit.

Hi guys,
Sorry for the multiple emails. I changed the photos on the web page provided yesterday.

I added some photos of my car as well as the engine. I also posted one picture of the Senators car.

LB181,
Yes, my fenders have been trimmed and my front bumper is similar to his except that I needed to be able to mount my headlights to remain street legal.

I actually purchased and trimmed some of the front prerunner fenders from So. Cal. Imports and they provide much better clearance. I didn't post the pictures of this as I have not painted them yet and they don't show well in pictures.

No, I'm sorry but I don't. If you look at the ads in Hot VW they are listed in there.
