balljoint control arms

Post by waynek »

Hi all,
Still working on installing new balljoints,
but my VW guy feels they are too big for the
hole. The old joints were facing down like they are suppose to.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a good
picture of the Thing (1974) control arms
plus I need the ball joint hole size.We
really would not like to ruin a balljoint.
Boy, I'm frustrated...

I have some 181 control arms which are currently out of the beam, I will try to get a picture of the arms posted for you. I just recently installed new balljoints (using an old bearing trick).
I found that leaving the balljoints in the freezer overnight and then heating the trailing arms made them very easy to press in. you might want to give it a try.

Good luck!

Does anyone have control arms without balljoints, and be able to measure the hole size.
Thanks
