THING BEER? Rocky Mountain High?

Back in 1992 the Volkswagen Thing Association had their annual bash out in Colorado Springs. To be creative they had a local brewery knock out a brew and supplied appropriate labels. Was anybody else on this site there ? Enjoy the pic.

We were there. I still have five bottles left.
I bought a case, but haven't been able to drink it all yet.
That was our first "Thing Thing".

I am the founder of the newly formed RoMTOC
Rocky Mountain Thing Owner's Club. I just traded a bottle of this vintage brew from David Campbell for our club's window seal rubber. WE will hold our first treffen March 22 and OUr big show and RoMTOC Kubelfest 2003 will be held the first weekend in August. We will have two car shows one at Rocky Mountian Motor Works and the other in Colorado Springs at Heuberger Motors, a drive up Pikes Peak, an expo at Rosie's Diner in Monument Colorado famous for vintage car shows and a 50's environment diner and if all goes perfectly a drive over Trail Ridge Road the worlds highest altitiude contiously pave auto road. We will also have Kubelfest Brew 2003 in 22 oz bottles brewed atop Hayden's Divide by my friend and master brewer Mark Sommers. All are invited to attend or participate. K-mann

The beer this year will be supreme German style brew. Savory. Old man Kelly (brewer of the Thing Fling beer) had now passed on and his brewery is still in operation but the microbrewery craze has ended the local cheap is better than high end concept . We will have 6 different varieties of ale available. All with collectable RoMTOC Kubelfest 2003 labels. Not for profit just for fun and the love of the Thing. K-mann
