I just scored an original '73 *I think* type 181 case, lower skid plate, and rear mount W/ the tins for no heater boxes.
This case is nice, I don't think it even needs a line-bore, it's std. std.
I'm going to build it up fresh, maybe some internal mods..... Does anyone want a custom built turn-key?
Cash or very interesting trades, case serial # available on request.
Custom case / head machine work available
I'm in Oregon

Joe sorry about the interruption by Chubb. I deleted it. Hes completely annoying at times but is tolerated for the vast depth of knowlege he possesses.
Is this engine case an AM? If so it is Thing (73-74 USA) specific and should be valued as such. I would not make modifications without a committment to sale for this reason.
I am looking to build a 1915 though. See you soon. Will be in Oregon next week. Then on to Vermont to bring back a Thing(hitch hiking) .Good luck. Bob Ingman

Hi Bob,
I thought maybe you were mad at me for that post about your new jeep... Cool rig, I was looking at that too.
I need to consider that people might not understand my sarcasm, and interperet my post as being mean...
I'll check out that code... this thing has been sitting since 1976.
I thought it might be valuable to someone beacause of the condition and the code...
A std. std. Thing case has to be worth a premium.
I'm offering this motor as a turn-key only.

Joe, I agree that you are doing the right Thing in offering this engine turn-key. It would be a shame to see a rare engine screwed up by a hack. Certainly it will be worth whatever ask for it. To someone wishing an authentic restoration the AM case is the only basis for an engine to be considered. Good luck. Bob Ingman
PS: I knew you were kidding about the Veep.

A friend of mine is going to be listing one of these longblocks with the AM serial number on Ebarf. What is so special about these engines that makes it different from standard engines (besides the 3 point mount for the skidplate)?
