Does the type 4 needs an extra sump like the t1 I know the type 4 has bigger oil capacity, but can i be thrown around corners without loosing oil pressure?

Power Tuning Parts has a mini sump extension thing. Just a little hat like thing that adds a small amount of extra capacity.
Power Tuning also told me NOT to use a 914 windage tray in a beetle conversion because the tray had negative effects. I can't say for sure because I have no experience myself.
I am going to use the Schadek two stage dry sump pump.

If you are running your VW hard or participate in autox, I would recommend at least a tunacan sump. Before I lowered my car, I could trigger the low oil pressure lamp with a few long sweepers or in autox. Now that the car is significantly lower, I am sure the extra cornering will make the problem worse. I don't think a windage tray alone would save my arse.
It doesn't matter if you have a genie in your trunk. 0 psi will turn that engine to junk, Type I or Type IV.
Guys, how well do VWs handle? That is the other question. I know 914s handle like stink, and my 912E is no slouch. More Gs = less oil in the sump.
Dave Darling, can you weigh in?

See my reply to the other post on this subject.
I have heard that it is a good idea to put some holes in the windage tray if you're worried about oil not getting back into the sump quickly enough. From my experience, the main problem is oil sloshing away from the pickup and out to the corners of the sump and even out into the heads.
Extended pushrod tubes have been used, as have valve covers that were vented back to the oil pickup area. For me, the "tuna can" oil trap and a half-quart of extra oil has proven up to all challenges so far.

My VW is going to handle mad! Mainly because there won't be a lot of vw in my vw suspension wise.
The trap thing I mentioned from PTP is similar to the link Dave posted. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/sho ... htm#item14

CB Performance, knows as their "4 gear dry sump pump". It is a quality piece made by Schadek. It uses the stock pickup as the scavenged point then ports out one side of the pump cover to your catch tank. The pickup line that goes into the other side of the pump of course comes from the bottom of your catch tank.

Anybody have any experience with using an Accusump? Its an accumulator that will discharge oil when there is a loss of pressure due to pick up tube starvation. It will also pre-oil the engine prior to starting.

Porsche 356 and 912 engines have pushrods which are longer where they fit through into the engine to stop the oil from draining through to the heads. Maybe this would help a little. You can fit them to T1's as they are the same dimensions but T4's would be a little bit of a problem!!
