Hi all! I'm fitting a wasserboxer to my superbug. Its going to be EFI and turbo, and I have obtained a 2.1L crank for it, along with a damaged motor.
Does anyone make a deeper dished piston for the wasser? I want to get compression down to about 8.5:1 or at the most 9:1, from the stock comp which is a bit too high for successful forced induction...
STD 2.1 MV or SS engines are 9.0:1 CR.. maybe if you use 1.9 EY pistons with a little machined off the top, they have a bigger dish than others.... (7.5:1 CR) So I am told..
But where to find them?? I will have a look on EKTA...
Marco is the man that will know what to do!!
Si
Most Mahle/Cofap pistons that are for sale are the low compression ones, I found this out when building Marcos motor, but the problem with them is that they're cast and not ideal for turbo applications. We have run a set of stock cast ones in Marco's couuent 1.9 WBX with no adverse side affects but the motor has only done a few thousand miles, but for his high hp motor we're going to get some custom forged ones made by Ross pistons
I have a set of "Quality Used" 1.9 and 2.1 pistons. the 2.1 has a massive dish with a little peak in the middle, and the 1.9 has a big dish with a flat chamber. the 2.1 looks like it has a much larger dish though.
I might turn down some 2.1 pistons and go with that. the 1.9 here in Oz has a comp of 8.4 (or 8.6 depending on the book you read) and the 2.1 a ratio of 9:1. Ideally i'd like a comp ratio of around 8:1 for the turbo motor, so I guess I better get the calculator out
