Hydro lifter T5 cams?

Post by Pillow »

Just wondering if there is any performance suppliers of hydro lifter cams for the WBX or OBX engines?

Basically I am torn between a T4 solid lifter with a mild CB Performance cam. OR a T4/T5 hydro lifter with a performance grind.

Actually does anyone have the power curve for the stock T5 engine? I just want redline to be at 5,500, but actually be able to get these smoothly w/o dumping all the bottom end.

Also if I used a stock hydro T5 cam could you put 1.25 ratio rockers on it? Or is that something reserved for the solid lifters?

Thanks,

Hi

I used a hydraulic berg 110 cam in my WBX with 1.4 rockers for a few years. Berg can have any of his cams made in hydraulic. The stock WBX is relined at 6250. Im now using my 1.4s with a stock WBX cam.

Thanks for the info! After evaluating my needs I think I will stick with the stock cam as it fits my cars gearing and power curve very well.

2.1L
95HP @ 4800 RPM (figure safe to 5,500 easily and a good shift point)
117 ft/lbs torque @ 3200 (perfect for cruizing)

That assumes a stock HP output. I figure with a better exhaust and some other goodies it will get in the 110HP range, which is plenty for my needs.

Now to track down a good new/reground hydro cam.

Thanks,
