Engine mount woes

Post by chinacat »

My engine is loose in it's compartment - the result of 3 old, worn and now broken mounts. Anyone else go through this before? It's at the shop now & repair estimate is $30 parts and $350 labor (engine and tranny to be pulled). Does this sound about right? Thanks.

The $30 for parts is OK BUT $350 labor to R&R engine and trans seems way out of line. You know this is very simple and you can do it yourself with a Haynes or Bentley manual. Time is money. How long does it take you to make $350? Good luck. Bob Ingman

Yeah, that would cover you at $20 an hour for 3½ hours, plenty of time to do a leisurely and sanitary job, plus the 10 hours it'd take to clean up the garage enough to get his car inside
