WBX gauge sender mounting

Post by Pillow »

Hopefully a simple question here... What is the process or adaptor to fit an oil pressure sending unit to a WBX case?

The pressure sender "idiot light" is mounted under cylinders #3/#4 where there is no room for a canister style VDO sender. If I remember correctly there is a special adaptor fitting needed..?

Thanks,

I have seen people do this a few differend ways. The best that I had seen is a fello that took brake line with a 1/8" NPT flare nut fitting on the end, put a 1/8 NPT nipple on the end of that and then carefully bent the tubing with a bender to get it to the top of the case.then he braced the dending unit somehoe ( I forget, but it did not look bad )

here's a writeup for you...

Volkscafe.com has a pretty reasonable writeup on this explaining both the problem, and how you can use their kit  to monitor this situation.

Anyway, i purchased one of those kits, but have yet to install it. Components look OK, but honestly seems a bit expensive for what you get (i havn't exhaustively shopped around, though).

The cool trick, however, is to run another sender for fuel pressure and just have a switch that can toggle back and forth between the two on the dash.

Hi

The wbx uses two sensors, one under 3&4 pushrod tubes, the other is near the oil pump. Im using a VDO hex T peice (hex brass) with a VDO sender that does oil pressure and idiot light and the other outlet feeds my turbo. Im not sure if there is enough room to fit the VDO sender straight into the case.
