By the way...DO NOT...put a bus engine in. There are no busses stock...that put out as much HP as the FI 1.7. When they went to the low compression L-jet 1.8...it ran a lot worse. These are heavy cars. By the way...a type 4 in rebuild costs is a type 4...bus...411/412...914...it makes no difference. They will all be more expensive than a bug. If you have a 1.7l...the only extra cost will be a little more for the correct domed pistons. These cars have superb gearing even on the auto. They ran very well. If you put a bus engine in...it should at least generate the 82hp that the stock 1.7 did. It was almost underpowered in the automatic iwth that. It ran well with the manual. When you go more powerful than stock...the costs go up. If money is the concern here...stay stock...anddo it correctly. Ray
