Sandblasting

Post by rollin900 »

Is it ok to sandblast the whole body inside and out. It is pretty rusted and would take months to sand it all out with a DA sander. I have heard good things and bad things about sandblasting and would like all of your opinions.

thanks in advance

should i try and rent a sandblaster and do it myself. I wanna take everything out, but everything is so crappy in my car that i am afraid that i wont be able to get it to work again. know anyone that will rewire my entire car for a low cost, with new wires and fuses and such?

Do it yourself

You could do it yourself. The compressor that is required to do an automobile is the kind that you tow behind a pickup, though. But there is probably a rental place in OKC that has them. In Dallas, the rigs with compressor rent for $150 a day so you can't afford too much learning curve before paying a sandblaster to do it seems reasonable, even cheap. And what a mess it makes; sand in impossible places. The noise of the compressor and the nozzle will drive your neighbors insane. Then they will come from block away when they find our that you are the guy who single-handedly distributed sugar sand all over their cars, houses, etc. It makes a HUGE mess. Good luck with that one.

The most well known shop in Dallas charges $500 minimum for major electric work. So, no, I don't know anyone good and cheap for rewiring a car. Better to buy a manual and some diagrams and take your time and do it yourself. You would gain a lot more valuable knowledge about you car doing a rewire and sandblasting it. Wiring materials are dirt cheap. Its a matter of time.
