How to remove windshield wipers and motor?

Post by jpashley »

Howdy- I'd like to remove the windshield wipers and motor- I can't seem to find how to get the darn things off! I've taken off the nut on the arms of the windshield wipers but am not sure how to proceed- I'm going to totally remove the motor and wiper apparatus and bondo up on the holes -don't need wipers since I only drive with top off and on sunny days and the vehicle is stored indoors and don't like that wiper motor right in my face- any help?

Once you get the nuts off the shaft they will come off. You may have to jiggle a little if time has bonded them to the frame but that is all that holds them.
If you are looking for a home for them email me. Mine are good only on low speed. Good luck. Bob Ingman

Do you have to put the Thing through a safety inspection?

Got 'em off- I promised them and the motor to a buddy in exchange for some j-tubes- there are a few other guys in town with things so if I come across some I'll let you know- as far as the safety inspection goes, I'm in california and the '74 is smog exempt- so when I went to get it registered (used a service to do the DMV stuff) I didn't have to show or prove anything- I'm new at this kind of stuff so I don't know if in the future I'll have to have it inspected here in Ca- I live in this little beach town and really only drive it a max distance of 9 blocks or so (small town)- am I going to get busted? Let me know because I'm like a day out of filling those holes with bondo and getting the thing powdercoated.
