Need extensive body work in Los Angeles

Post by alicheat »

Last night my 412 was broad-sided by a hit and run. The whole driver's side from driver's door to back fender is a wreck. Anyone know of anyone who can help me here in LA? I know of a couple junkyards with type 4s. I found who did it and want to get quotes from licensed mechanics.

This may be tough. Remember, the 411/412 is unibody. I have totalled two. I got broadsided...T bone style. It warped everything. Check everything carefully. It may not be worth fixing....been there. Parts are expensive and rare. Its worth it to figure out what not to waste those parts on. Just being practical. My condolances. I may know where a dentless...complete..red two door 412 fastback is...with 4 speed. Maybe that could be your new ride if you need one. Let me know if I can help. Ray

Thanks, Ray,

I did think the chances are small of getting back to it's old (great) condition. I would love another, but need a 4-door for baby seat and such. If you know of one, let me know. I did tune-ups and worked on the L-Jet on this one, so the same would be preferred. Anyway... It is sad...

Wow that really sucks. I always worry about that kind of thing on my bus. I have to park on the street. Parts are much more accessible for my bus but still, it's an awful feeling to go out in the morning and wonder why "thing's look a little different"...

Sorry this is so late. Brent67 on the STF...sent me this 10 days ago. Julie...he says he found a 412, red wagon w/ tan interior w/ roof rack. Minor rust on drivers door fender, well maintained, little rust on corner of winshield gasket. Rear bumper with minor ding. Runs and is unmolested in the engine area. Rubber is good...car is totally complete. Owner is asking $1500. His name is Biff 360-732-7151. Sorry for the delay. I have been changing jobs. Ray

now the left turn signals, both front and rear, do not work. not while using the signal switch and not while using the emergency flashers. i checked fuses and what connections i could see easily, but couldn't find anything loose or missing.

i'm no expert, so if there's a really easy answer, that'd be awesome. i'm trying to avoid bringing it back in just for that.

Both the front and rear have their own ground point, so thats not it. I would check to see that you have connection at that leg of the relay. If the other side emergency flashers do work, then its not the relay...but could be a connector that pulled back in the plug. Also check the plug into the column itself. Its not uncommon to have the lever switch in the column go out also. I would take teh steering wheel off and clean everything. Ray
