FourthComings Part X

Post by Nieko »

I have just finished reading the FourthComings part X article in VW Trends and I must say I am very impressed. The #6 test floored me. The extremely fat, flat torque curve and smooth HP curve up to 100.5 HP is amazing for such a mild engine. I have been interested in a TypeIV motor for my own bug project for some time and this motor looks to fit the bill. My question to Jake would be, Could this Engine be reproduced almost exactly with the exception of An upright DTM shroud kit and a pair of 40mm Kadrons from CIP1 instead of the Dual Dells you used in the build? I am on a REALLY strict budget and the cost of the Dells might be to much for me to bear. Also would a fairly stock TypeI transaxle of about 1970 vintage be strong enough for this powerplant?

Ditto, Jake? Save an early trans, 63.

That engine is a special configuration I came up with just for TIII applications, where guys wanna run for hours on end, with plenty of torque and good economy..

The combo can be reproduced, I have ther blueprints. with a DTM we would need to run more static CR and change the specs on the heads a bit.
