Hesitation....1.9l Water boxer
I have an intermittent hesitation problem with my '85 Kombi. It starts and runs fine....but if I sit at idle or an extended time then I give it a little gas...it starts to buck and won't accelerate. It will back fire a couple times, and then just as quickly as it happens it goes away....it'll run fine after that. Also....when I'm cruising at 50-60 mphs for an extended period, it will start to buck intermittently. The problem comes and goes so randomly that it is hard to pinpoint it. Thanks for your help in advance!

I hope you are checking back, sorry this forum is so slow with Type 5 Joe gone for so long......
All I can offer is a stab in the dark. Your bus is fuel injected, right? Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. I know from personal experience, not VW but other, that a failing fuel pump can do haywire things like that.
Talk to raygreenwood on the fuel injection forum, he can probably tell you wether my idea of it being an FI issue is close or not. Good luck.
