bus engine in bug?

Post by cal-look66 »

if i were to find a late bus engine maybe a 2.0L watercooled somewhere for cheap, slapped some 40s on there and put it in my bug, would it haul? would it even bolt up to my tranny?

Yes it would haul some ass, and it can fit most trannies, easiest is a bus tranny - if it's in something offroady, but will go on normal bug trannies,(it's basically a modified a/c engine) It is wise to fit a rear engine mount tho' it'll munch the stock tranny mounts quick time. Then there is the cooling system to think on.......look in the conversion forums or do a global search theres more info than you need on here for cooling systems. get a good exhaust too when you fit the carbs or your wasting your time and ££££££/$$$$$$ ! BTW it'll be 1.9 or 2.1 there isn't a 2.0l.

Best of luck!
