Nice Find!!

Post by Bugmunn »

While going out to a freinds house this last weekend I caught something out of my eye alongside a barn. It looked like a type 4 2dr wagon. I turned back around and drove down the long driveway to the house to be met by a BIG dog. I waited in the truck tell someone came outside, finally this guy came puttering out drinking a beer and wanted to know what I wanted there. I asked about the wagon explaining I've allways been interested in type 4s but never had one. We talked for awhile then he asked if I was wanting one still. Sure do!! I've been reading the forum for quite awhile now so I kinda knew what to look for, anyway he said he had some goodies inside the barn and I could buy everthing from him since his eyes are getting bad. Well when he opened the doors up I was really suprised, here sits a 74 2dr stickshift, another 74 2dr wagon, and 2 73 4dr fastbacks. I about PEED my pants. he said the 74s have'nt been run in 5 years or so but who cares right. One 73 was a parts car and the other looks like its all there but a little rough and the one outside was looking ok. We talked for awhile longer while he's drinkin a brewski. This old barn had some horse stalls in it with those half doors, he opened one door and theres atleast 25 type 4 motors in various stages. I could'nt believe this was happening to me, but it was.Anyway to make this story shorter while digging around in this room I almost cut all my little finger off and had to go to the hospital for alot of stitches. Well he was nice enough to take me to emergency, and while on the way he cut me a hell of a deal on everything. Soon as my hand is better I will be the proud owner of 5 type 4s. with alot of motors. Im so happy I think my pants got wet again. Thanks for reading on about my find. Im sure once all is home and sorted out ill be getting rid of some of it, maybe. BUGMUNN!! :D

This is my first post in the 411 forum, and I feel sick to do it. I didn't used to be into the TypeIV, and especially the sedans, but a couple of years ago I came across a 1974 411(?) fastback in the local pick-a-part, it was in beautiful shape, nice repaint (dark blue), beautiful reupholstered interior in black vinyl, unknown engine condition, missing fuel injection. I passed it over due to the Draconion smog laws in Kalifornia. Now it would be exempt. I am sure it got crushed. I hope the VW Gods will forgive me, but they probably shouldn't. I picture myself in that car to this day, with a warmed over 2.0 liter in it. And body color matched headlight surrounds. And nice rims and tires. And limo tint windows... I'm sorry. Cliff
