I think he might be right about the setup! Listen to Ray he's a expert opinion about the repair! I think they should pay for the rebuilding of your motor!! After pulling that with you! I would hire or bring a lawyer over there to show how pissed off you should be with them or maybe a police officer since what they did is no different then if they vandalize your car and then forced you to pay them for it! If this was the People's court they would have to pay for the possible damage to engine, the repair and the return of the fee they charged you for the tune-up! This isnt a little thing they did! It wasnt a alt. belt left loose or getting grease on your mat. They stoled from you! With that kind of quality work how do you know what they actually did to your car? They could have dropped something inside the cylinder and were trying to get it out! Good luck and get a name of a place from someone in the forum for your area thats cool! Sorry you got the jerks! Every good VW-shop had already called you or replaced the tin.. when THEY cut a hole in it!!

Let them pay for your tin and the other stuff that ray mentioned.. it's there fault not yours..
