We have removeable headrests, probably a dealer accessery. Need the four knobs that control (lock) the height adjustment. Knobs are black plastic, 1 1/2 dia., female thread. Does anyone know a source?

I have a fairly comprehensive colllection of documentation of originally offered dealer options for the Thing and I have never even heard of a removeable head rests for the Thing seats. I would love to see a picture them to try and figure out who sold them originally. I suggest that you take the headrest to the hardware store and find out the thread size and pitch. If they a really a VW item the thread size will be metric, if it is SAE then you can be fairly sure it was not a VW item. After determining the bolt size needed, get a bolt and fabricate a knob or you might find a workable knob at stores like autozone in the after market small parts replacement area that includes window handles, dash knobs and stuff like that.
