Ditto! I'd be lost without the help of my "support group". Now I just need a group to help me break my Ebay addiction.

I have a really cool solution for the dash problem. Mine is really straight...but has about 2 large cracks coming from the ashtray area. I will be doing this in about a month on a spare dash I have. It may not be 100% identical to factory...but should be quite nice.

Here is what I am doing.
(1) remove the dash. I have done this a few times. Its not very hard.
(2) fill the cracks with hard urethane...rough sand...repeat until smooth.
(3) Remove the panels from the front.
(4) Spray with bed liner  yes...bed liner. I have tested a few. Some of the hard ones have a texture nearly identical to what came on the dash. I will find which ones work best and post them.
(5) since the surface will be slightgly glossier than necessary....use Mar-hyde vinyl spray. Its medium flat...permanent...and flexible. Ray

Ray, that is freaking smart dude! I never thought of that, I was thinking of maybe getting some vinal and redoing it that way. but heck that bed liner is UV resistant also! GREAT IDEA! :D

dash cracks

on the last resto we did on a 412, the dash was nasty! we covered it with black vinyl and it looked pretty good! jeff was awesome on the woodgrain resto. he used the peel and stick drawer liner you buy at wal-mart. the dash looked like new!

that was the free resto tip of the day!

if you need help on it email us....

Ray, I had thought of doing the bodywork to the dash before, but never thought to put the bedliner on it. Good thinking
