NASA Releases Amazing Photos

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - NASA on Monday released the first 360-degree color panorama of the terrain on Mars after the Spirit rover took a tour of about 45 feet from the lander. The photos revealed an amazing treat.

A team of two-dozen scientists and engineers have been trying to figure out if what the cameras are returning is for real. Nathan Real, a chief scientist in mars photo project, states,"Its just amazing. We all couldn't believe our eyes. After the shock subsided.. someone yelled PUNCH BUGGY and nailed me".

"We all have tried to make sense of these photos. At first we omitted it from several news media outlets, but later decided this is just to big for us to cover up," said William Tell of Malin Space Science Systems, a member of the mission science team.

"Einstein must have actually done it." said Carla Lowe of Historical Science Landmarks Institute. "There was this undocument event in the late 40's or early 50's and the details are sketchy where Einstein before his death supposedly made his Volkswagen Beetle vanish from his lab in Princeton, New Jersey. Some say he was toying with the idea of transporting objects over great distances. When asked where his car went, the story goes he just chuckled and said 'Martian's came and took it' ", she said briefly. Carla states that research is underway with all sources.

"This is a top level event", says Sandi Klaus a senior rover programmer. The golf cart-sized should reach the object by within 48 hours and more detailed information will be known.

The $820 million Mars Exploration Rover project includes a second, identical rover named Opportunity that is expected to land on the opposite side of the Red Planet on Jan. 24.

NASA already has it on ebay. The only catch is the buyer has to pay $687,465,847.02 for handling and shipping.

I knew there was on Mars!!!!.....If they had a "show" there I bet I could win LONGEST DISTANCE award, maybe not since I could not drive it there!

NASA Releases Updated Photos in 3-D

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - NASA releases this 3-D stereo image taken by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit's navigation camera as it slowly and cautiously moves toward the abnormal earthlike object. It shows in the background, the surrounding martian terrain.

JPL's Chris Kringle, who led the engineering team that planned the roving sequences for Spirit and its sister rover, Opportunity, said "Spirit has spent most of the last two days scrunched within 45 feet of the above object, and that is not the task this rover is designed to do. Over the last two days, Spirit has performed well considering this isn't its mission."

The $820 million Mars Exploration Rover project includes a second, identical rover named Opportunity that is expected to land on the opposite side of the Red Planet on Jan. 24.

Thanks Ryan (VWTRENDS)
That was a good chuckle to see this spoof repeated in the mag. It almost made it worth the time to create it. =)
