Oil Pumps?

Post by kdanie »

I know Tuna's tech article says high volume pumps are unnecessary and can even be a problem by blowing gallery plugs. What is the prefered pump to use??

Oil Pumps?

There is a how to on my web site on installing a T1 26 or 30mm pump into a T4. Read it and see if you want to do that. Pretty straight forward and the T1 pumps are quite a bit cheaper than a T4 pump, plus a better variety is available.

Do you guys plug the galley freeze plugs?

Oliver Knuf told me they never see galley plugs blow and to not worry about it. I'm thinking though, if I'm going to have one year of my salary in the engine, plugging it might be the way to go.

I saw that posted somewhere by Oliver. I just tapped and plugged the rear ones to help in cleaning out the case.

What is your engine displacement?

I'm using a 32mm Melling oil pump in my 2270cc (78.4 x 96). My case is in the machine shop right now having a set of threaded plugs installed to replace the unpredictable factory galley plugs.
