door holes on passenger side only

On my 73 Thing, the passenger side doors- front and rear- have two 1/8 inch holes centered above and below the door storage openings. The drivers side does not have these holes. Just wondering what the holes might have been used for. thanks radio man bblide@sc.rr.com

I was just in my basement looking at my 74 thing (before i got on the computer) and was noticing the same thing....they are just on the passenger side....anyone know what they are??

Those holes are for the snap locks used at the end of a belt for the military version of the 181s to keep maps and sheets of paper from flying away.
