WINDOW REGULATOR

Post by subrhyme »

Hi! I need a passenger side window regulator but not the whole thing. i only need the part that looks like a snake. My window only rolls up so far then it makes a snapping noise cause the stupid thing is chewed up and I was wondering if you can buy that part seperatly or if you would have to buy the whole regulator. Also can you get that piece off of a type 1 2 or 3 or would it have to come from a 4?

They are junkyard only. But...look around. I have always had spares and never had to "improvise" with this part. You might look at late type 3 and so me of the old audis or rabbits with hand cranked windows.

To keep this from happening again. Thouroughly wash the felt on the spring, the spring and the tube...and the gear in the winder. Then spray liberally...several times with moly-kote. Then get a can of electromotive brand...dialectric grease. It comes in an aerosol "cheeze whiz" type can at pep-boys. Force as much as you can into the spring and the felt and the gear. Use nothing else. Take a punch and peen the two rivets that hold the gear assembly together to tighten it up. It should last forever. Ray
