Does anyone have experience with the overhaul of the eberspacher heater in a 412!
Are parts still for sale, when yes, tell me where?!?

You should be able to get a glow plug at www.wagenteile.com. For help you can always contact Gerrit Jan Kreeftenberg. He was able to solve my heater problems, anyway. He also has lots of (used) spare parts. A trouble shooting manual you can find here: www.vintagebus.com (technical - parts manuals) and at www.type4.org. Good luck, Jan Peter

How much does a new glow plug cost?
How much does a new glow plug cost? And, how do you know if you need one? Do you "read" a glow plug like a regular spark plug?

Its rare that one will really wear out. Check for resistance at the two flat connections. That means that the glow coil is good. You can also hook 12 volts to it and make sure it glows. Clean the cneter electrode...file any notches or dents out of it...and set the gap. If it has continuity in the center...it is good. Generally...in Europe, where the heaters get used evryday of every winter. Two seasons of real usage ar about the life on a plug. On the USA...except New England.....about 5-7 years on a plug. Chances are the one you have will be fine. Get a new one anyway...while you can. Put it in a drill bit tube in the glove box with anti-sieze in the threads and forget about it until you need it. Ray

Eberspacher repair
Hi Bud
As ray says. Over here in europe the old ebercraper gets well used but glowplug/spark plug wear doesn't figure that often, it's normally the points in the heat exchanger blower that (either for the fuel pump or the coil trigger) corrode or age that cause the problems. A good clean round every other year keeps things running.
As mentioned a selection of used spares in the shed always a good idea if you have the space just incase. As with anything old, GRAB IT WHEN YOU CAN BITS WON'T BE AROUND FOREVER.
