The early 412 rear fenders from 2 doors will fit 411 rear fenders on 2 doors. They had both tail lights. The 2 door fenders were 2 door only.
The four door 411 and 412 fenders generally swap...up to late 73. After that, The 412's had the skinny taillights. I'm pretty sure the last year won't fit the earlier ones. The wagons...411 and 412 up to...i believe august of 73 will fit together. After that...they have the skinny tail lights. Ray

I thought that when the 412's came out, the taillights on the 2dr. and 4dr. sedans were moved up higher in their positioning (regardless of which actual light is used) than the 411's, where they were right down next to the bumper?

yep...thats what I was getting at as well. Two door fenders are two door fenders. Four doors are 4 doors...and wagons are wagons. They do not inter-mix within the cars. But generally the 411 and 412 fenders can intermix up to about 8-73. Then they get the skinny lights. Ray

As of August 72, when production of the 412 started, on the sedan models (both 2 and 4 doors) the rear lights moved up higher compared to the 411. Also the bumper moved a little bit upwards. On the Variant (wagon), the taillights had to become narrower in addition because the space between the higher bumper and the underside of the bootlid became narrower. The skinny (variant) taillaights have never been mounted on sedans here in Europe. Jan Peter.

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think they have ever been mounted on a sedan here either. The rear height issue seems to change a little as well. I have used 411 fenders on 412's with no problems. But that is here. Iwill have to dig out some pictures...as the upward movement of the bumper on the sedans, may have corresponded to the 412 bumper change here. Ray

Actually, it's the other way around, you would need to extend a 4-door fender as it's shorter than a 2 door fender. It sounds quite feasible off the top of my head, but I would have to see them side by side...

You may be comparing apples to oranges, by trying to compare 411 rear light heights to 412 rear light heights...especially if one is a 2 door and one is a 4 door. Among one body style...say 4 doors, I believe from memory, that 411's and early 412's used the same rear light heights. I'm pretty sure that 411/412 (early) 2 doors used the same rear fenders as well. This does not mean that they are at the same height as a 4 door. Ray
