lights and lenses?

Post by nick sparrow »

Ok I have a few questions for you all out there, when I switch from low beam to high/main beam it goes really bright but then when you let go the high beam does not seem so bright...could it be a faulty relay?. Also with the plastic tail lenses and front indicator lenses is there anything you can do to fill small cracks?.....maybe spray a clear laquer on it?.....any suggestions.

Nick, as to your low beam/high beam, I think this is normal. I have never noticed on my 412 but on my 98 Golf when I click the high beams BACK to low, BOTH low and high beam bulbs illuminate until I release the switch.

Maybe this is normal on the 412 also?

Yes, that's normal for many cars, when you pull back to turn on the brights, both high and low beams are on at the same time momentarily.

Check your wires...but it should be right. On the 411/412, of course you have all four lamps illuminated when the high beams are on, but there should only be one filiment burning in the low beams, and the inner high beams should be on after you release the lever. Ray
