Several point should be considered here. The factory material used for the defroster ducts are made of a insulating material therby allowing as mcuh heat as possible to be transfered to the windshield. On the other hand sheet metal is a conductor which means you will loose most of your heat to the meatl duct. Bad idea.. Too bad that I gave away my extra defroster duct or it would be yours.. First you must realze that a 73 and 74 Thing have different defroster ducts. So start with he year thing that you have. Next check with Mike Basso at www.thingsunlimited.net he is sure to have this part for sale. The part(s) you seek are called a "warm air vent" pn#181 819 321 left sidefor 74 only and (181 819 322 right side for a 73 and 74 Thing) and pn#181 819 819 32? (last number unknown) You might also check on Samba and the Thing resitry for the parts you seek. If you are not in a hurry adb keep chekcing you will find the parts fro the price you can afford. Or just contact Mike Basso adn buy them.. K-mann

Mines a '74...I'm not in desparate need yet, I'm still working on it. I do need a driver's side rear fender and air vents for both sides.
