Oh dude, that is so sweet! So many cool VW's, so little time... :( I'll keep an eye on this and see if it hangs around awhile and I'll see if I can sell an organ or something. If I can't buy one, I'll build one someday.

I saw that on the samba yesterday and realized that anything that makes it easier for me to get cars home is a bad thing.

How cool would it be to make a rolling VW shop out of that?

You could just go out and do mechanic work for people onsite.

:D

My only concern would be the engine compartment, the guy is suppossed to send me a picture of it today. With the way the ramp is situated I would be concerned about the engine compartment.

But it would make a SWEET tow vehicle for shows, or as my bud Big Gene said to make a rolling shop out of!

What motor could actually handle hauling a car is what I'd like to know...

Stroker Type 1 or a 2 litre or higher Type 4 would do fine. But I have seen pictures (and I have one on my website) of an early 411 pulling a Beetle on a double axel trailer.

Still, it's difficult for me to imagine it could haul something comfortably as one might with a big ol' 'Murrican V8, like cruise 70mph for 1000 miles fully loaded, accelerating up hills, etc...

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Some people don't like late busses at all. Some people don't like anything custom. Some people (me) like the off-the-wall crap. I personally like the late busses. I think this thing would be too cool! Maybe a little difficult to work on the engine, but still cool.

Picture it like this: Audi TT nimbus grey paint, dropped in front w/ polished 17" 993 Porsche turbo twists and Porsche turbo big red calipers/rotors. Duallies out back w/ revamped level "bed" built from polished stainless diamond plate w/custom pull-out ramps. Large displacement Type 4 motor with Nickies and the works.

Sounds AWESOME! Of coarse it would need teeth on front for that added touch.
