salvage question

hi guys, never been in here before but i may have found something y'all might be interested in. i'm negotiating the purchase of an old vw salvage operation and there are a few of the big wagons and fastbacks in the pile. (411/412) are they worth anything ? there's a few late busses too but they're pretty picked over.

Sorry dude, I dont know the situation but it looks as if you are probably 10 or 15 years to late to save anything, except for the tractor. Most of the cars look like the Weather and nature both have done a good job laying waste to the cars. The best thing to do might be to yank all the good parts, sell them and sell the leftover hulks for salvage.

not trying to be a smarta** but that was kinda my plan. i'm not familiar with the 411/412 market so i was hoping to get some pointers here as to what is worth trying to save.

Hey no prob.

I would say anything you could yank off the 411/12's is worth selling, especially, dashes, fastback engine lids WITHOUT RUST (hint, hint) interior parts especially good seats, dash, AC units, most anything. If the bodies are straight without rust they could be worth saving, if they have engines and trannies well those are salvagable. most anything.

i should be able to get some good stuff out of them then. kids have knocked all the glass out (little bastards) so the interiors are pretty shot but the basic cars are still pretty solid and complete.

Any straight and rust free 411/412 sedan specific body parts are worth saving, like engine lids, rear fenders. Any straight chrome pre-74 bumpers should be worth the trouble. Really any good 411/412 body panels are probably worthwhile to save in my opinion. Let us know what you have, I'm looking for sedan (fastback) parts! Where are you in Arkansas?

And.....the tractor is probaly worth about $700-850 as is. If the tranny works and the engine will run and you clean it up....I have seen running solid ones go for about$1800+. If its painted....and has the steel "ass pan " seat and is running good....about $2200. I had friend whose late 40's or early 50's Ford 6n (?)...I used to work on. They are bullet proof and nearly every part is available. Ray

yeah, when I saw those tractor pics, I was thinking how nice it was. If anyone has the RFD channel they have programs about old restored tractors, sorta like VW shows, everyone shows up with their old tractors to show them off.
