Engine Rebuild? What went wrong????

Yep...thats the list. With some tuning, I think there is a good chance the 86 may also be usable quite well. There will be a slightly rough idle with th injection with the 86 I would bet...and you would have to do some adjustments to the MPS. The web 73 works very well and is bettter than stock. Ray

Gasket or not?

Ok, today I got one of the four orders for various head gaskets and recieved one set from Evwparts(fast ship) for the 1700. They are a little less then .5mm have a flat side and a side with a ridge 1/3 from the inside edge going around(which way does it go, up or down). The question is: If I lap the cylinders to the cylinder this time should I use a gasket? I dont want to have a leak!
How much will it effect the ratio? I know there isnt a gasket at the head/cylinder but the shems or gaskets seem to be doing that kinda?
I'm so stuck with doing the rebuild or trying to retorque the heads first and pull the intake and the tins and rockers. Has anyone retorgued a head leak away? lol!!! thx Bill

Sorry seems that by reading past post it seems lapping without shems or gaskets is the way! thx bill
