If converting to a type V and after looking at the link provided, I have Q's....
1. Do you have to use the Porsche cooling conversion?
2. Noticing the pics that the heads aren't even. Does a custom exhaust have to be fabricated?
3. If using 94mm cyl for the conversion, aren't the walls too thin for daily driver use? I was told this when building my type I.
4. Didn't the vanagon have overheating or head problems? I have always heard this, can anyone confirm?
5. If it seems the logical choice to convert to a type V, why are they so rare?
Thanks.....
Well, a type I exhaust fits,94s are okay the 92s are problematic as they are bored out 90.5s....The vanagon has the "head gasket syndrome" BUT in it's water cooled version.Type V is using a watercooled (WBX) vanagon engine case converted to AIR COOLED!.
The are extremely rare as some people prefer T1/4 and some doesn't know that they exist!
