how durable is the oxyboxer

Post by podboy3 »

i have been doing a lot of research on the wasser to oxy conversion and it seems like a great idea, a lot of the stuff i have for my T1 i can use no problem such as my new exhaust and whatnot, the one thing i am wondering though is how durable these engines are.
the reason i ask is because i am aware of what people say about the type four with it's ability to drive all day at 80 and up to 100 cruising with no over heating and all, as well as going 150,000 miles on a case and rebuilding it with out a line bore.
my question is, how does the type 5 compare to this.

150K? Try 400K...

Short: Only in some ways.

The T5 shares all the good points of the T1, and still has some of the weaknesses, like limited cooling capacity, uses T1 heads and cylinders.

The T5 fixes the T1s bubblegum block, and has 5 qt oil sump. and full flow cooling. It is also exquisitely made, has T4 center main, etc...

For a drag motor, I can't think of a better starting place than a T5.

For everything else, there's T4.

If you REALLY want bullet proof, keep it water cooled.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
