any have or seen one for sale. looking for one or aftermarket mount

I think Yakima makes one that fits. The A1 Highrise towers or the A1 Raingutter. I have also seen this cast aluminum rack mount set up that is really cheap and really tall. A friend ran them on his 63' Land Rover. I will see if they are still around. You might also try Con Ferr. They make some great racks and mounts. Used to run those on my old FJ-40's but they would easily fit on a Thing hard top. However I have no idea about stock VWoA rack options.

I usually keep the chessmen in their case, inside the car. I am certain there was no m-code factory accessory rook rack, or even a VWoA dealer add-on rook rack, not even one for Queens.
The dealer hard-top rack was apparently the same one as used on Broncos and other similar trucks/wagons. I use a Yakima rack, but unscrew the feet and bolt it right through the roof instead of clamping it to the drip rails.
