hydrolic lifter help

Post by BAVWCJoel »

Ok, working on my first Type IV motor, and now it's time to prime up the lifters... only one problem. they won't relieve. we've torn them down as said per bently, haynes and the volkswagen transporter tech manuel. we got oil in them and then when we try pushing down on them, nothing.. they wont budge. and i know that they are supposed to move down a little but these aren't doing anything. any ideas? thanks. Solid or Hydralic?

Post by vwbill »

What are you working on? My 1700 has solid lifters! So you have rebuilt your hydralic lifters and all are colasped? On the ones I bought they were solid lifters but have a "c"clip inside them also? Bill
