Ball Joints

Post by wildthings »

I will be in Puebla Mexico in a few days. I understand that they have a parts house with lots of old VW part. Does anyone have the part number for Type 4 ball joints? Are the joints for the Brazilia the same as for other Type 4s? If they have Type 4 joints I may ship the lot back to the states. :D :D

Brazilias are only vaguely related...and only in the sheet metal department. The front end is type 1. The engine is type one as is the drive train. It is torsion bar...not strut (as far as I know). But thanks for asking....and take a look. You never know whats sitting on shelves.
The part # is 411-412-165 C
There is also supposedly an eccentric stud version of that joint 411-412-165 E. Ray

I was unable to find any Type 4 ball joints in Puebla, too bad. I found one guy who at one time had some that he got when he bought an allotment of parts from the USA 15 years back. Unfortunately he junked them years ago because he thought that they were probably some morphidite part that had been assembled wrong.

I did find a guy that claimed that he could get them rebuilt. He was very helpful and speaks fair English. His name is Alex and his email address is:

If anyone has a bad set of joints laying around you should contact him and send them south to see how they come out.
