I am not that familiar with these cars... but I like it!

What's it worth?

Don't know what it's worth. As much as an individual is willing to pay for it I guess.

If I was in the market for one, and was closer, I would probably go up to about $400 - $500. Even if it's trashed, theres got to be at least that much in hard to find parts that you would be thankful to have when you get another one. If I was able to go out and look at it and get a first hand feel for the exact condition and it looked good, I would probably go higher. The good restorable canidates are going to get tougher to find as time goes on.

It looks very nice. But...its from the midwest. Call and ask some specific questions about rust in certain areas...like under the front and rear fenders. But....it is complete.

The rebuilt engine in the long run means nothing. Its been sitting too long. Knowing what I know of type 4's...unless the receipt was very specif about how things were treated and completed on the rebuild....its just a core.

Who ever buys this....congrats! But bear in mind...that this car will need considerable work to drive regulary. It will eed a complete front end rebuild after sitting so long...and a complete brake rebuild. Not to mention glass seals......and a reseal kit for the auto tranny. But the hard part is done...its not smashed. Ray

Since you brought it up, what's the deal with the front end kits :P ?

Oh yea, when this forum goes down again, we all congregate over at www.thesamba.com. They made us a 411/412 section.

The front end parts are still on the front burner. I have also been sidetracked a bit by the holidays....some family issues....job search...and trying to move into a new place in Dallas...while really staying in Oklahoma city. MGVW sent me an e-mail. He will be sending a center link soon. I have done one already..but its in my immobile car. Thats coming out of storage by the end of the month.
The ball joints...are simply a matter of searching for parts that will fit to press into the housings.
I will be picking up a pair of golf strut tubes next week to start modifying....to use the slip in and spot weld method of converting 411/412 strut tubes for use of the audi/quantum cartrige. The idler bracket is a no-brainer...just a machine operation in bronze. The tie rod ends...existing. The control arm bushings are no problem.....you can use modified rabbit with shims until I cast bonded ones. The radius arm bushings are done. The centering rings and a seal for the steering box I am working on. If I cannot contract with the company that originally machined mine for me..I will cast them.
The two very important parts I am just starting to work on are the caster modification weld in bung for each side of the Tee piece and having topside adaptor plates made to not only allow easier bolt in of late model strut bushing to 411 and early 412...but also allow the use of existing superbeetle strut braces. Its coming. Ray
