Conversion of Auto Vanogon to manual

Post by vwalagal »

Anyone out there experienced with this conversion? How much trouble is it? 85 Vanagon in particular?

Thanks

Is not an easy task as it requires also to change the pedal assembly, shifter housing and linkage, flywheel in engine needs replacement too.

good luck

I guess I'll have to look for a donor car for the parts, not just a tranny. Thanks

Consider looking for another complete van, tag it, and drive it.

The automatic seems pretty bullet proof... Popular with the drag racing crowd as it is good for ~500HP unmodified.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
