Thanks for that recall link Albert. I seem to recall the problem in my first 411 car. I did fix it myself. It was not an internal fault if i remember right, it was either a selector cable or selector lever problem. I would love to see the whole dealer version of that bulletin. Ray

Sorry...i forgot to reply about tha balljoint. Nice picture by the way :D !. That is a golf balljoint. Its pin is much smaller than that of the 411/412. There may be several joints in that "family" that may have a proper size pin....possibly audi etc. Problem is, that it is designed to mount opposite what ours do. Its designed for a very short control arm...easily half the length of the 412. Though it is designed for a heavier front end, the mountinf and the leverage mean that the spring internal may still be not adequate for the arm leverage of the type 4. But...I have some spent one from my rabbit. I guess I shoul disect one just to see whats inside.

The type 4 Halaogen headlight diagram you sent me.....Is an H-1. That lamp assembly is similar to H-2 or Hb-2. The bulb in the picture is single filliment. It the low beam as it is listed as 55 watts and also conains.....lamp deignated "D"....which is the "city lights". Those are a very low wattage bulb...typically 20 watts or so, for use in urban driving. Very similar to daytime running lights. You can buy the clip in version of that for H-4's from Hella. Thanks for the pic. Ray
