Difference in top prices

Post by Bucko »

In checking out one of the sources listed here for a replacement top, I see that some are listed for over $500.00, and some are listed for around $275.00.

What would be the difference that would cause an increase in price?

I replaced my top last year with the Thing Shop item. Pricey a bit perhaps, but it was complete, well made and fit perfect. I installed it myself with no problems even having never done it before. Very pleased.

The Guild Thing Tops are thought to be good quality. I just traded aan OD green top of the line Guild for a black high end Guild that will go on a frame when the snow breaks and the weather warms. TMI and Robbins are thought to be of lesser quality. There are others that offer lower priced tops. The main issue that I have encounted is that the top is not shaped correctly to cover the frame and seals against the side curtains. I suspect that a major issue is that once the soft top hits constant sun light it shrinks, hardens or just strats to crack and fail to cover the area. The Thing Shop charges top dollar for top qualiyt products. For those of us that do not have that kind of Thing budget, your best reliable choice is to contact Mike a t Things Unlimite. Tell him how much $ you have adnhe will give you the best deal for your budget (bar none) K-mann
