vwbill wrote:Wow go far it!! So are you talking about the cone on the inside on the steering shaft that slides up the shaft? Are you having problem with the cv bolts? I had to get one of those correct star looking hex sets from the auto parts store and used a little heat and wd40 and a box wrench on the star hex wrench and visegrips on the sides, lol!. Dont think they are allens. Im sure there is a better way, lol! I got a kit with new bolts but I did try to save the old ones like everything else on the car, lol! So any pics coming of the under side and the dismantle? Must be nice to see whats up under the front! Thx for the info! Bill
my plastic cone was melted to the steering column, making it impossible to get to the coupler.

My deal with CV bolts have to do with my brown van. It's right stub axels, threaded holes were wallowed out and the cv bolts would just back, causing untimley axel loss at interstate speeds!

I have since fixed that problem, but I still hate CV bolts.

Dang!...sorry I never mentioned that! yep...that plastc protector cone....is an ungodly b*tch!. Its purpose is to keep things from getting wrapped up around the end of the pinch bolt and causing a cessation of steering....a little overkill. Ray
