LIFT AND SEPARATE
Okay, I need lift, who is doing what? tires are 31" front and rear. My front end is cut with adjusters installed, cranked up. I have pre run style fenders in the front stock bolt location with 2 1/2" additional clearance. Rear torsion is slightly cranked up but when I go further My cv's click. Rear fenders are stock height but wider. I have read on the forum but dont understand the front disk brake conversion that gains 2" of clearence and the the 944 rear trailing arm issue. My thoughts are clearencing my thing cv's (but now I am realizing that when I replaced them 2 years ago, The VW shop might have sold me type 2, I saved the 3 that were not busted and put them back into the new boxes I will have to look at the german part #) or converting to 930 cv's. For the front, I have heard rumors of clearenced ball joints but have had no luck locating any. Also I think going with the super stiff SAW front leaf spring packs will do away with the sagging of the stockers, Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick. {PS If you notice, I got my caps lock off,I did not know that was such a touchy issue}

Re: LIFT AND SEPARATE
I'll bite.........31" tire in the front? That might be a bit big unless you run without fenders. If your front end is sagging, crank your adjusters up. If you are already cranked to the max, then the SAW leafs are your next option. Keep in mind though how stiff of a ride you will get with the SAW leafs. You want a front suspension that works thru its cycle, not a stiff pogo stick. Id be surprised if you couldnt crank your adjusters up a bit more. What makes you want 31" up front? 29" is much more do-able.
SoCal Pre-run front fenders Id imagine?
One other option that gets you more tire/fender clearance is a body lift. A pain to install, but an instant 3" of clearance. Have a plan to deal with the other issues that come up with this.....steering, brake lines, tight wiring, seat mounts, etc
In the rear if you want more height, you should probably swap to 930s. Type 4, or 2 CVs wont last at higher angles. Can you measure your axle angle? I think you cant go past 22 degrees with a 181(T-4) CV. Save the time and effort on the 181 CVs, you will end up replacing them with 930s at some point. Been down that road already.......
Im not sure which disc kit would give more clearance??? What sort of clearance are you talking? Do you mean track width?
No clearanced Thing ball joints out there. Clearanced Bug ball joints.....yes.

Thanks for the reply Matt.
I knew the 31" tires were a bit much but thought I could get away with it with some mods here and there. When the front end was originaly done, the rubbing was very minimal, now it has sagging issues. I really like the look, and ground clearence so wanted to try the SAW leaves first. I know they are going to be stiff. My old ones need replacing anyway. I have heard that replacing just 1 pack is a good comprimise. The front disk conversion that gives 2" of ground clearence I read a post here but I may have miss-understood. The guy who posted is a regular and seems to know his stuff and was talking about 944 rear trailing arms in the same post so I may have got it mixed up, I just cant find that thread anymore. I was thinking that he may reply. I'll keep searching. I would like to go disk in the front just for the braking upgrade. Yes you are right on the fenders, I'm real happy with them, did not want to cut or modify the body. The 930 cv's are in the plan now, I just bought a ZF limited slip diff and will have the trans re-geared when it is out. That should take care of the back. I thought about the body lift, I'm still on the fence on that one. Thanks again for the info. The once a year auto swap is this Fri Sat Sun at Qualcom stadium, San Diego, maybe I can find some needed parts there.
