caliper kits

Post by hoodsy »

hey folks thanks for the input on power brakes, I have decidied not to pursue installing them. I did just get some caliper rebuild kits from the bus depot and was wondering about something, I noticed that they don't come with the seals that go between the two halfs of the calipers anyone got any input on this? also the are two pieces that I am unsure of what they are for. the kit has two mounting bolts a lock plate two piston seals an o-ring and two other odd looking plates, what are they for? thanks for any help.

Some of those plates should be anti-rotation plates I believe...

Yes those plates clip into the pistons and keep them from rotating.

You may also have a kinds of curved "bone" shaped plate...with two large holes and little square tabs by the holes. This is the lock plate for the caliper bolts. You put it under the bolts that hold the caliper to the steering knuckle..then torque them, then bend teh tabs over the bolts to keep them from rotating out of they get loose. Ray
