Clear poly Fuel Line?

Hey has anyone ever used any of that clear racing cart fuel lines that come in colors or clear? I got some off to try? bill

Just use 7mm German, you cant go wrong.

I am using the German stuff but when I got the car it had the clear poly on it and it was nice being able to see the fuel was there! This stuff comes in some cool colors too! I was thinking of using it in a few spots with that red fire casing so I could see if fuel was there but didnt know if anyone has used it in FI use? I always try to go original if possible! I think it is a nice produce and seems to be used in a racing application.
I'm gonna do some test with the torch,lol! Let you guys know! Bill

Good God NO!...don't use anything poly for fuel line. It has no heat range whatsoever. It also is not rated for pressure at all. That is for a gravity feed go cart...with the fuel line running in the airstream. Its lawnmower fuel line. Use the 7mm braided cotton, braided steel...or steel fuel lines only. Ray

I have had to use clear poly hose in some " just get us home" situations and I must agree it does not handle heat at all well. so maybe if I was standed and had nothing else, I might give it a shot in a pinch, but noone is standed so....

It's such a cool product just wish they had a badass version of it! I dont know the burst strength of it(psi) but I'll bet if you incased it in that fire rated red casing material that they use for wiring it might work in maybe a carbed situation???? Thanks for the comments! Bill
p.s. The clear poly stuff I found on my car before I changed it to the german original stuff was alot harder to get off/cut then the reg fuel line and didnt seem to be cracked like the inside of the original but who know how long either were on???? Maybe they make a Jet version,lol!

What you probably found was a nylon line similar to what was on CIS....before it went all stainless braid. It absorbs water and gets very brittle. Ray

Ray you were very right! I heated my torch up and the side read around 220 and touched the poly to it and it started to melt! I then put on fire wire wrap and did it again and it still started to melt inside the wrap! It would be good in another application use, but not on any of my cars, sorry! bill

I've been looking at the braided stainless covered PTFE hoses with JIC fittings on the ends from the Grainger catalog as a replacement for some of the flex fuel hoses in the 412...any thoughts?

Great stuff. Getting cheaper every day. I use stainless teflon brake lines. They are about the same price as stock...and worth every penny. There has been some conjecture on the various makes not being DOT rated...and having problems....but I hardly think it would be an issue with fuel line pressures. Ray
