Exhaust?

Post by megansvdub »

i need a new exhaust for my '74 thing. I know the thing shop sells them , but i was wondering where can i find the cheapest new thing exhaust. I'm not trying to be cheap i'm just running extreamly low on funds and i'm trying to save the most money i can.
thanks guys

also on a side note what is the best way to replace the convertable top, i'm going to keep the same frame and i've got a pinpoint vinly top and the rivits and brackets for it. I'm just wondering if there is a proven way of going about doing it. Also what do i use to puch the rivits thru the vinly?

I thought I'd let you know some very hard to find exhaust replica stuff is still available.
This web page has the muffler and the tail pipes both....won't find them many places anymore.

Note this for a '74 with heater boxes.

Those are easier to bet now than they ever were in the past. Cip1 just started carrying them, GMW has them, and I've heard The Thing Shop has them if you ask (though it isn't in their catalog). Someone factory must have started reproducing them again- they were impossible to get until recently. When the original muffler on mine crapped out around 1980, even the VW dealer had to replace it with a Beetle muffler!
