roughness

I have a 66 with 1600dp runs good but feels like the mounts are solid ..the are fairly new but are the stock rubber type. the vibration transfers sitting still or moving...any ideas? the alternator is tight and seems in order....but I wonder if anyone else has had a similer problem..

I would run the engine briefly with the belt off to see if there's a change (just to rule out a cooling-fan problem).

Marc ...You da man! I read your comment on another thread about the newer Bosch alternators having ribs on the the bottom that older ones did not have and on certain alt stands can cause interference... Bingo ..had both of those..and I could see where contact was keeping the alt from seating properly...ground those puppies down with a dremal and hello smooth running!! thanks alot ...I have been scratching my head alot on this one!
