Thrift Store Find

Post by wildthings »

I went into a thrift store with my wife this evening so she could search for a picture frame. While she was doing her thing I idlely walked the aisles looking over the assorted junk on the shelves. Suddenly a maze like metal casting caught my eye so I dug it out from under a pile of dinner plates to see what it was. Low and behold it was the valve body out of an automatic transmission. A little closer look revealed that it was out of an 003. I'm sure the management had no idea what it was, probably thought that it was a wall decoration or something. Compared to most thing in the store it was actually quite high priced at $1.95. Maybe someday I will run into it again hanging along the edge of someone's porch roof, right next to a set of wind chimes. :) :) :)

Maybe I should buy it, instead of just hanging it next to a wind chime, I could dangle some pieces of EMT conduit from it and make it into a wind chime itself. Then if the one in my 003 ever messed up I would know where I had another valve body clanging around.
