IF you can pull your current one out, any auto glass shop will be able to make one for you... they're just flat.

Other wise the 2 major vendors are good bets.

New consider it $180 shipped... used glass isn't really worth it unless it's local.

I could use a new one too- Anyone have any experience w/ getting one made by a glass shop and how much it could run? I'm not sure I'd want to pay $180 for CrinaMex glass from a Thing vendor (and deal with the risk and hassle of getting a sheet of glass shipped across the country).

Much of the local cutting has to do with the vendors... you have the issue of talent, equipment and materials.

Figure $100-180 to have one cut.

Yes, get a slab cut locally.

Depending on what state you live in, it may be important to have the piece cut from the stock end that has the "safety plate" approval etching on it.

I was just at my local glass shop getting some new glass for my blast cabinet and asked what a Thing windshield would cost cut out of laminated glass. The guy said $70.

Thanks guys, I priced one here in MS for $130...cut locally...and the lowest seal prices I could find are $84.50 for the Front Windshield Seal p/n 181 845 119 from German Motor Works and $15.05/each for the windshield frame to top and the windshield frame to base, both p/n 181-137, both from West Coast Metric

Windshield Prices

Wait a minute. I must be missing something here. I'm very new to this stuff, but I thought I saw above that the windshield seal would be $18/19 at a Thing shop, not $84.50. Help me please to understand, because I'll be facing a similar situation when I reinstall my windshield after paint. Sorry, if this is apples and oranges. Thanks.................Revis

Things Unlimited list the front windshield seal for $72.50, p/n 181845119. This is the seal around the glass that fits in the frame. The other seals have the same part number 181-137. West Coast Metric lists these for $15.05 each. They fit in the groove on the top and bottom of the frame and seal between the top and the body. There is also a piece of pinch welt on the body located at the bottom of the frame, p/n181857849 for $12.00 from Things Unlimited.

hope this helps
