Hey did you see that 411 listed somewhere for 350 or trade? It is a sweet auto four door that still has the chrome window trim! Maybe we can go in on it and someone will get it and store it! It really is to nice for him to trash it! Yikesa! Bill

i have replied to you... i will again. i am interested in many parts that might be available off of the car. struts, shocks, springs, turn signals, headrests and the like. i am just south of you in roseburg. what would you charge me for these things?

yeah I saw that ad a few times. i don't have a type 4 but i'm kinda becoming interested in them and saw that one which is only about 100 miles from me. it's in inglewood, ca (near the LA airport) and i'm in san diego. the only thing is that i've no room for another car (have two now and it kills me already to have to park one of them on the street). and if I brought another car home I think my partner would divorce me anyway. for $350 that one is awesome. maybe it doesn't run but that's probably not that hard to rectify (sounds like the guy just gave up on it and didn't really try). the body looked great (needed a good clay-bar polishing and waxing but that's no big deal), said it had a little bit of rust on one quarter panel (I couldn't see it though in the pics), but the interior looked pretty good except for front seats were covered and probably are thrashed but the back looked fine. I did email the guy and told him whatever you do, do NOT junk it PLEASE. someone will want that car...just haven't found the right buyer yet. didn't hear back from him though.
when it comes to old aircooled VWs, I feel that the drivetrain is the least of the worries...having a good body and interior is probably more important to start with.

p.s. the ad w/the pics was on the samba but it's not there anymore...hopefully it just expired or he sold it to a good home and he didn't junk it. I think this ad on type4.org is the same car (no pics though):

Sad stuff to me!
I would sponsor some bucks to save it! That car is really a nice four door 411 that looks almost all there! It really makes you hurt to see it with the scrap option! It has the chrome window trim still! I need a warehouse and to win a lotto! I would buy up the orphans and store them and restore! That car looks so straight it would be a sweet sedan family cruizer and it probably just has a bad CHT or ground, lol! bill
