WTB Thing Front Clip
Volks,
Our immaculate 74 thing was in an accident and we need a good front clip. I am looking for the near-impossible to find - a rust free straight front clip. We are not willing to get fleeced, but i have money to spend on this, since the car is insured.
Please pass this on if you know of anyone who might be able to help.
Thanks,

Scott,
Keep checking the Samba Thing classifieds.
There's ususally a couple or three clips, either front or rear floating around the postings there.
Also, depending on the insurance payoff, don't totally discount buying a whole 'parts" car.
Looks like there are two in Michigan right now on Samba.....not so far away from you.
Sorry you are having to go through this.

Scott,
So what did the insurance company have to give to cough up for a rust free, southwestern desert Thing front clip w/shipping to Toronto?
Just curious....

it is insured by a classic car insurance plan, for agreed value. you must have an apparaisal and the policy is for the amount of the appraisal. our car was insured for 16.5K $CAD, so there was no chance of them writing it off. we did get a scare however when they originally had a value of 7.5K on file, which was from an earlier appriasal we had done before the car was completed. i insured it as soon as it was painted and home in my garage, but it took another 6 months before it was done, then it was re-appraised. they had the old value on file and were talking about writing it off since the repairs were going to cost more than the 7.5K figure on file. i nearly freaked out on them, but kept my cool and they found their error - and the updated appraisal.
